Artist Statement
In past works, I have tried to portray the nature of fragmentation in the scientific community and in our American contemporary culture. The paintings were created not only to be viewed as paintings, but function also as objects or a piece of the larger whole. I have been researching the connections of art and science for over a year and centered my college theses (both in art history and studio art)last spring on this topic. "FRESH CHICKS?" is not specifically about my ideas of art and science, but rather my experiences of making art in a supervised, academic environment, to the freedom of independent work.
